SYMPTOMSIncorrect user permissions can cause SQLExecutive activities to fail. Specifically, SQLExecutive, setup to autoRestart, can fill the event log with Event ID 108. The error occurs when SQLExecutive has identified a restart scenario and does not have the correct user permissions to control a Windows NT Service.
Event 108: SQLExecutive security context does not permit autoRestart privileges. WORKAROUNDSet up SQLExecutive to use an account that has service privileges. See Knowledge Base article Q120556 or search on 'Running SQL Executive' in the SQL Server "Books OnLine" for details on configuring SQLExecutive.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
