BUG: RPC from VB Application May Fail with Error 8006

SYMPTOMS

When calling a remote stored procedure with a float parameter from a Visual Basic (VB) application using DB-Library, 6.00.121 may result in the following error message:

   SQL Server Error: 8006 Maxlen 255 invalid for datatype 'float null'.
   State= 1, Severity= 16.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.00.148. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
