BUG: Memory Can Be Reduced After Installing Replication

Last reviewed: April 10, 1997
Article ID: Q156858
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft SQL Server, versions 6.0 and 6.5
BUG #: 15554 (Windows NT: 6.0)
       15625 (6.5)

SYMPTOMS

Replication requires memory to be at least 8,192 pages during installation. However, after installing replication, sp_configure allows the user to reduce memory to any value.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server versions 6.0 and 6.5. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

While installing replication, Enterprise Manager checks to verify that memory is at least 8,192 pages. When memory is reduced to an amount below 8,192 pages, the system stored procedure sp_configure does not verify that replication is installed.
