BUG: Retention Change Not Updated on Cleanup Task

SYMPTOMS

When the retention period for a replication is changed, the replication cleanup task still holds the old retention value.

CAUSE

The new retention value is not passed to sp_updatetask.

WORKAROUND

Whenever the retention period is changed, manually modify the appropriate task and update the retention value for its cleanup task.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server versions 4.2x, 6.0, and 6.5. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
