FIX: #Deleted After Microsoft Access Sorts a SQL Server TableLast reviewed: June 27, 1997Article ID: Q166298 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf you use Microsoft Access 97 to link to a SQL Server 6.5 table, open the table in datasheet view, and right-click a column heading and select Sort Descending, #Deleted appears as the value for some of the records.
CAUSEThe problem occurs when variable length fields have padded spaces stored in the SQL Server table. The worktable used for sorting does not maintain the padded spaces, so Microsoft Access thinks that the values have been changed.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server version 6.5. For more information, contact your primary support provider.
MORE INFORMATIONThis problem may also occur when you connect from Microsoft Access for Windows 95. The client computer should use a SQL Server 6.5 version of the SQL Server ODBC Driver (Sqlsrvr32.dll version 6.50.0201 or higher). If you connect to SQL Server 6.5 with the SQL Server 6.0 drivers, you will continue to have this problem. |
