The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen your OS/2 client is running SQL Administrator for Windows and accesses SQL Server by using the remote access services (RAS) of LAN Manager version 2.1, you can't use features that require SQL Server Monitor. If you try, you'll see this message:
An Error occurred during communication with the SQL Server Monitor.Further attempts result in this message:
The SQL Server Monitor is busy with another client; try again later.Features that require SQL Monitor are scheduling backup events, viewing the error log, and managing statistics.
WORKAROUNDWindows clients do not have this problem. When you need to use RAS to gain access to SQL Server and use features that require SQL Monitor, run SQL Administrator for Windows from a Windows workstation.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Administrator version 4.2. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
