BUG: Scheduled Backup Near Midnight Does Not OccurLast reviewed: May 5, 1997Article ID: Q90484 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSA backup event scheduled to occur near, but before, midnight may not take place when using SQL Administrator for Windows.
CAUSEThis problem occurs when the backup event in question is scheduled to take place after the time of the last wakeup on a particular day but prior to midnight. Accordingly, the actual interval where the problem occurs depends on the wakeup time set for SQL Monitor. For example, assume that the SQL Monitor backuptime parameter is set to fifteen minutes (default), and the SQL Monitor was started at 23:10. It then wakes up at 23:25, 23:40, and 23:55 before the end of that day. In this case, if an event was scheduled to occur after 23:55 but before 0:00 the next day, it will not take place.
WORKAROUNDAvoid scheduling a backup event in the above interval. You can decrease this interval by reducing the backuptime parameter for SQL Monitor.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Administrator for Windows version 4.2a. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available
