FIX: File or Project Not Found If Add or Rename Long Filename

SYMPTOM

The error "File or Project not Found" occurs when adding or renaming a file on Windows NT that has more than 32 characters in the filename.

CAUSE

SourceSafe can't handle filenames that have more than 32 characters. For more information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This bug was corrected in Visual SourceSafe version 4.0.
