PRJ4: OpenFromDatabase Causes Error When Used to Open File

Last reviewed: March 18, 1998
Article ID: Q125305
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Project for Windows, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, if you open a file from a macro with the OpenFromDatabase command, you may receive any of the following error messages:

  • Constraint Date not Valid

    -or-

  • Project finish date not valid

    -or-

  • Date not Valid

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the SaveToDatabase routine does not correctly save the year 2000 to the Microsoft Access database.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, find the tasks that have Constraint Dates in the year 2000 and create relationships with other tasks so that the constraint is no longer needed. For example, you could create a milestone task at the end of the year 1999 and link the constrained tasks to this milestone with an appropriate lag value. This will eliminate the need for a constraint on the task in the year 2000.

NOTE: This workaround works only for schedule dates such as Start and Finish. If there are other dates such Baseline Start, Baseline Finish, Actual Start, Actual Finish and so forth that are scheduled in the year 2000, then the same error occurs.

STATUS
