With Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows, you can open and retrieve files that are located on Internet or intranet computers. You can use a Visual Basic for Applications macro to open files that are stored on an Internet or intranet computer.

The following Visual Basic for Applications macro opens a file that is located on an Internet or intranet server, and save it to a local drive. This macro assumes that the computer running the macro has an active connection to the Internet through either a network or dial-up connection.
