XL97: "Exit Design Mode" Deactivates Visual Basic Editor

Last reviewed: February 27, 1998
Article ID: Q160457
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

In the Visual Basic Editor, when you click Design Mode on the Standard toolbar to activate design mode, an Exit Design Mode floating toolbar may appear. If you then click Exit Design Mode (on the Exit Design Mode toolbar), the focus switches to Microsoft Excel.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this behavior from occurring, click Exit Design Mode on the Standard toolbar. Clicking this button exits design mode, hides the Exit Design Mode toolbar, and keeps the focus on the Visual Basic Editor.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
