SYMPTOMSWhen you run a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro in Microsoft Excel 97, you receive the following error message
Run-time error '1004': Show method of Dialog class failedand the macro halts.
CAUSEThis problem occurs when the Visual Basic macro uses Application.Dialogs to display either of the following dialog boxes:
Menu Editor Make Add-inFor example, the problem occurs when the macro contains either of the following commands:
Application.Dialogs(xlDialogMenuEditor).Show -or- Application.Dialogs(xlDialogVbaMakeAddin).ShowThese dialog boxes are not available in Microsoft Excel 97 and cannot be displayed.
STATUSThis behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel 97.
