PPT97: Typing Is Slow When Recording a Macro

Last reviewed: December 2, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

The characters take a long time to appear on-screen while you are typing in Microsoft PowerPoint 97.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you are typing while you are recording a macro. When you record a macro, PowerPoint generates Visual Basic for Applications commands for each keystroke you make. This overhead causes a delay and your keystrokes are not sent to the display as fast as normal.

RESOLUTION

To restore normal typing speed, stop recording the macro. To do this, point to Macros on the Tools menu, and click Stop Recording.
