The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Visual Basic for Applications GetAddress Method and omit the optional Name argument, you receive the following error message:

   This program has performed an illegal operation and will be
   shutdown.

   If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

When you click Details, the following message appears:

   WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in module WINWORD.EXE at
   0137:30144b96.

For example, the following command line will cause this problem:

   x = Application.GetAddress(CheckNamesDialog:=True)

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, include the Name argument when you use the GetAddress method. The Name argument can be a null value, like this:

   x = Application.GetAddress(Name:="", CheckNamesDialog:=True)

For more information about GetAddress Method, click the Office Assistant while in the Visual Basic Editor, type "GetAddress Method," click Search, and then click to view "GetAddress Method."
