This article describes a Visual Basic for Applications macro that returns the total number of sections in a Microsoft Word document.

The following sample Visual Basic for Applications macro returns the total number of sections in the active document:

   Sub CountSections()
      MsgBox ActiveDocument.Sections.Count & " section(s)."
   End Sub
