SYMPTOMSIf you insert a Microsoft Excel 97 worksheet object into a Microsoft Word 97 document, and then create a macro in the embedded worksheet object, you may receive one of the following error messages when you run the macro.
Microsoft Windows 95
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.If you click Details, you receive the following error message:
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module EXCEL.EXE at 0137:304dec2d. Microsoft Windows NT
An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.Microsoft Excel 97 quits, and Microsoft Word 97 stops responding (hangs).
CAUSEThis problem may occur if you run a Visual Basic macro that adds a custom view to the embedded Microsoft Excel 97 worksheet.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
