WD98: HasHorizontal/HasVertical Return True for Single Object

SYMPTOMS

When you use the HasHorizontal or HasVertical properties on a single specified object (for example, a single table cell or paragraph) the property returns True instead of False as expected. The Visual Basic for Applications help topic for these properties states the properties should return False for a single specified object; as in the following: 

   HasHorizontal/HasVertical Property
   ----------------------------------

   True if a vertical border can be applied to the specified object.
The remarks section for these properties further states: 

   Vertical borders can be applied to ranges that contain cells in two or
   more columns of a table.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The Visual Basic for Applications Help information is misleading. A horizontal or vertical border can also be applied to a range that contains a single cell in a single row of a table or to a single paragraph.
