The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSThe Internet Transfer Control is unable to make authenticated connections for either the HTTP or FTP protocols. Anonymous connections still work. If you try to specify the Username and Password, you will get the following error:
Run-time error '35754' Unable to connect to remote host CAUSEThe control did not properly handle the Username and Password.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This bug has been fixed in Visual Studio 97 Service Pack 3. For more information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
