PRB: Cannot Install a Print Processor Named WINPRINT

Last reviewed: June 11, 1996
Article ID: Q151890
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Win32 Device Development Kit (DDK) for Windows 95, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

Under Windows 95, a print processor cannot be installed if it has a name of "WinPrint." In Windows 95, SPOOLSS.DLL contains default print subsystem components, one of which is the default print processor called "WinPrint." When trying to install a print processor either programmatically or by an .INF file, SPOOLSS.DLL will check to see if the print processor is named "WinPrint." If it is, the installation will fail.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
