The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSSome TrueType fonts from other versions of Windows or third party font vendors may not produce glyphs on Windows NT 3.51. For example, if installed in Windows NT version 3.51, the Traditional Arabic font (Trad.ttf) from Arabic Windows 3.11 will not produce glyphs. The font installs, but attempts to view it produce the default character indicating that the character codes do not have a glyph.
RESOLUTIONMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.51. This problem was corrected in the WINSRV.DLL file included in the latest Windows NT version 3.51 U.S. Service Pack.
MORE INFORMATIONThe bug can be reproduced by viewing a suspect font in the character map application in Windows NT version 3.50 and version 3.51. A problematic font has no characters in any of the character subsets in Windows NT 3.51 while the characters do show up in Windows NT 3.50. The TrueType fonts most likely to encounter this problem are those that have been constructed for foreign language versions of Windows such as Arabic Windows version 3.11 or 3.1.
