SUMMARYIn a 16-bit Windows application, .RES file can bind directly to the .EXE file by RC.EXE. In the 32-bit Windows application, this is no longer possible. With Visual C++ 4.2, the linker is needed to link the compiled .RES file to the .EXE file. Also, all of the .obj and .lib files are needed for the link.
MORE INFORMATIONIf you want to change the resources in an .EXE file directly without any of the .obj and .lib files, you can use Microsoft Visual C++ 4.2 Developer Studio. You can open an .EXE file in Developer Studio, modify the resources in the resource editor, and then save it back.
