SYMPTOMS

Using MSIME95 and MSIME97 under Japanese Windows 95 and Japanese Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0, Kanji cannot be set to the IME composition string (either converted or non-converted form).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Although Hiragana, Katakana, and alpha-numeric characters can be set to the composition string by calling ImmSetCompositionString(), ImmSetCompositionString() does not work for Kanji.
