INFO: Resource Language Decided by ResourceLocale Key on Win95Last reviewed: March 17, 1997Article ID: Q165188 |
The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYUnder Windows 95, there is a registry value "HKEY_USER/ Default/Control Panel/desktop/ResourceLocale/Default", which is set to the locale of the shell (for example, 0x409 for US English Windows 95). This value controls how a different language resource is (or is not) picked up when an application is run. Under US English Windows 95, users can change the "Control panel/ Regional settings" from the default locale (for example, US English) to another locale (for example, standard French). However, this change does not affect which language version of the resource is used. Even if the application contains both an English and French resource, and the user locale is changed to French, the English resource (which matches the ResourceLocale/Default value of 0x409) is loaded. Because the resource loader (in kernel) depends on it to load the language resource, this registry value should not be modified or deleted.
