Windows for Workgroups version 3.11When you start Microsoft Windows for Workgroups version 3.11, you receive one of the following error messages:
CAUSE
Windows 95This error occurs if the workgroup name or computer name is not properly specified.
Windows for Workgroups 3.11This error occurs if the user name, workgroup name, or computer name specified in the [Network] section of the SYSTEM.INI file is missing or invalid.
RESOLUTION
Windows 95To correct this error in Windows 95, follow these steps:
Windows for Workgroups 3.11To correct this error in Windows for Workgroups 3.11, make sure that the Workgroup=, ComputerName=, and UserName= lines in the [Network] sections of the SYSTEM.INI file are present and that the names are valid.
