  • Microsoft Windows 95

SUMMARY

A desktop pattern and color is what is displayed on the screen if no bitmap is selected. If a bitmap is selected for the desktop, the pattern still appears as the background for the text underneath the icons placed at the bottom of the screen.

However, if the patterns do not appear when you choose Edit Pattern while in the Desktop option of the Control Panel, then change the Desktop color to anything other than black.

MORE INFORMATION

To reproduce this problem, do the following:

  1. From Control Panel, choose Color and select Color Palette.

  2. Change the Desktop color to black by selecting the black box under Basic Colors. Then choose OK.

  3. From Control Panel, choose Desktop and choose Edit Pattern.

The whole box is black, as if there is no pattern to edit. However, because the background color and the color of the pattern are the same, the pattern does not show.
