File Manager Shows Garbled Date for Year 2000 or Later

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Windows File Manager displays an incorrect date if the file is created with a date of 01-01-2000 or later.

RESOLUTION

Windows for Workgroups 3.11

This issue is resolved by the following updated file for Windows for Workgroups 3.11 only:

   Winfile.exe   version 3.11   dated 3/6/97 3:11a   170,496 bytes

To install this update, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Wfwfilup.exe file from the Microsoft Software Library to an empty folder.

  2. In File Manager, double-click the Wfwfilup.exe file to expand the Winfile.exe file it contains.

  3. Quit Windows.

  4. Rename the Winfile.exe file in the Windows directory to Winfile.old.

  5. Copy the new Winfile.exe file to the Windows directory.

  6. Restart your computer.

Windows 3.1

This issue is resolved by the following updated file for Windows 3.1 only:

   Winfile.exe   version 3.10   dated 10/14/97 3:10a   146,864 bytes

To install this update, follow these steps:

  1. Download the W31filup.exe file from the Microsoft Software Library to an empty folder.

  2. In File Manager, double-click the W31filup.exe file to expand the Winfile.exe file it contains.

  3. Quit Windows.

  4. Rename the Winfile.exe file in the Windows directory to Winfile.old.

  5. Copy the new Winfile.exe file to the Windows directory.

  6. Restart your computer.

 ~ Wfwfilup.exe (size: 91967 bytes) 
 ~ W31filup.exe (size: 78641 bytes)
