The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows operating system versions 3.0, 3.0a, 3.1, 3.11

SYMPTOMS

If you are running Windows version 3.1 and you use the Alarm Clock application that was designed to work under Windows 3.0 with Multimedia Extensions, the digital portion of the clock rotates diagonally.

RESOLUTION

Alarm Clock (ALARMCLK.EXE) requires DIGITAL.FON to be copied to the same subdirectory in which ALARMCLK.EXE resides. This can be accomplished by doing the following:

  • Copy DIGITAL.FON from the Windows 3.0 Multimedia CD into the directory with ALARMCLK.EXE.

    -or-

  • Expand DIGITAL.FO_ from the Windows 3.0 disks (5.25-inch 1.2 MB Disk 2, 3.5-inch 720K Disk 3, or 5.25-inch 360K Disk 5) by typing the following from the Windows subdirectory MS-DOS command prompt:

          EXPAND [source drive]:\DIGITAL.FO_
          [destination drive]:\WINDOWS\DIGITAL.FON

NOTE: The command above should be typed as one line with a space between _ and [destination drive]. This line is word wrapped here for readability.
