Video Graphics Controller Board, or VGC, is the name Compaq uses for the VGA card included with older Compaq computers. If you install Microsoft Windows on such a machine, you must select the VGA option.

Because of this card's ambiguous name, many people incorrectly install Windows with the CGA or EGA option. If you have the Compaq VGC and Windows stops responding on the startup screen, you must reinstall using the VGA option.
