SUMMARYWindows 3.1 does not detect device contention on parallel devices in a default installation. If this feature is required in your installation, download the file VPD386.EXE from the Windows Driver Library (WDL) on the Microsoft Download Service (MSDL) by dialing (425) 936-6735. (This self- extracting file is compressed and is uncompressed as VPD.386.)
MORE INFORMATIONIn Windows 3.0 and 3.0a, VPD.386 is used for parallel device contention. In Windows for Workgroups 3.1, VPD.386 (included with the product) allows the detection of parallel device contention. NOTE: The VPD.386 file that is available on the MSDL is intended for use with Windows version 3.1. This version cannot be used with Windows for Workgroups. If you are using Windows for Workgroups, use the VPD.386 file included with the product. For additional information about using the Microsoft Download Service, query on "msdl and download" (without the quotation marks).
