SYMPTOMSAfter you remove an internal modem that is assigned to a communications port not on your computer, the port still appears in the Device Manager.
WORKAROUNDTo manually remove this port from the Device Manager, do the following:
MORE INFORMATIONAfter installing an internal modem and assigning it to a COM port that does not physically exist on your computer, the port appears in the Device Manager. After removing this adapter, the port is not deleted from the Device Manager.
