The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSTrying to use a hot key to start a MS-DOS-based application from a shortcut located on the desktop fails to open the application.
CAUSEMS-DOS-based applications with shortcuts on the desktop must be launched from the desktop icon before the hot key can be used to activate the application.
RESOLUTIONMove or copy the shortcut for the MS-DOS based application to the Programs folder. Use the right mouse button to click the shortcut icon, then click Properties. Click the Shortcut tab, specify a key combination for the Hot Key setting, and then click OK.
MORE INFORMATIONWindows based applications can be launched with a shortcut key on the desktop. MS-DOS based applications cannot be started unless there is a shortcut in the Programs folder.
