Compaq Contura Aero APM Does Not Shut Down During Inactivity

SYMPTOMS

When you are using your Compaq Contura Aero's Advanced Power Management (APM) features, the computer's hard disk may stop spinning to save power during periods of inactivity and then start spinning again two seconds later.

CAUSE

This is a problem with the Compaq Contura Aero computer's BIOS when running with Windows 95.

RESOLUTION

Please contact Compaq about obtaining an updated BIOS for the computer.

STATUS

Compaq is aware of this problem.
