SYMPTOMS

When you try to run WinPopup, you may receive the following error message:

   Unable to start WinPopup because no compatible network is running.

CAUSE

This error occurs when you are running a version of WinPopup from a previous version of Windows. The version of WinPopup included with Windows for Workgroups version 3.x is not compatible with Windows 95.

RESOLUTION

To use WinPopup, run the Windows 95 version of Winpopup.exe from the Windows folder.

If the Windows 95 version of WinPopup.exe is not installed, follow these steps to install it:

  1. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

  2. On the Windows Setup tab, click Accessories, and then click Details.

  3. Click the WinPopup check box to select it, and then click OK.

  4. Click OK.

NOTE: WinPopup is available as an option to install only if you have installed a network client.
