"Out of Memory" or Garbled Sound Playing MIDI File

SYMPTOMS

When you play a MIDI file, you may receive an "Out of memory" error message, or the file may be played with garbled or distorted sound.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if MCISEQ is unable to load all or some of the MIDI patches.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
