SYMPTOMSWhen you try to change your Windows password by double-clicking the Passwords icon in Control Panel and then clicking Change Windows Password, you may receive the following error message:
The password-list file %1 is damaged. You need to delete it and create a new one. Do you want to delete the damaged file now?When you click OK, the damaged password list (.pwl) file may not be deleted. The next time you try to change your password, you receive the same error message. Note that this problem does not affect your ability to log on to a Microsoft Windows NT or Novell NetWare server.
CAUSEThe .pwl file in your Windows folder is damaged, and Windows 95 cannot delete the file.
RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, follow these steps:
