Using Suspend on Certain Gateway Laptops Drains Power

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Suspend command on certain Gateway laptop computers, battery power drains.

The following Gateway computers are known to exhibit this behavior:

  • ColorBook 4SX25
  • ColorBook 4SX33
  • ColorBook 4DX33
  • Liberty
  • Solo

CAUSE

The BIOS in the computer requires an upgrade.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade the computer's BIOS. Contact Gateway Technical Support for additional information.

MORE INFORMATION

When Suspend mode is in use, the PCMCIA slots should be receiving 0 volts. On the computers listed above, the PCMCIA slots receive 2.5 volts, draining the battery.
