The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 3.0, 3.01 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you click a hyperlink (such as "http://www.msn.com") in Office 97, Internet Explorer starts and connects to the site. If you then click another hyperlink, another instance of Internet Explorer is started.

RESOLUTION

If you do not want to run multiple instances of Internet Explorer (to conserve system resources), open new links by copying and pasting them into the open instance of Internet Explorer, or close Internet Explorer before clicking another hyperlink.
