Find File Command Still Available When NoFind Policy Is Used

SYMPTOMS

If the Remove The Find Command system policy option is enabled, users may still be able to access the Find command by performing any of the following actions:

  • If a Windows keyboard (such as a Microsoft Natural Keyboard) is used, pressing Windows+F may open the Find Files window.
  • If a Windows keyboard (such as a Microsoft Natural Keyboard) is used, pressing CTRL+Windows+F may open the Find Computer window.
  • When any Windows Explorer window is open, pressing F3 may open the Find Files window.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 95 and OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2). An update to address this problem is now available, but is not fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft does not recommend implementing this update at this time.
