Unable to Install a Joystick after Installing DirectX

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install a joystick after you install DirectX, you may be unable to do so.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you do not have a functional GamePort Joystick device under the Sound, Video And Game Controllers branch in Device Manager.
