Windows NT Validates Passwords for Persistent ConnectionsLast reviewed: May 7, 1997Article ID: Q101744 |
The information in this article applies to:
Windows NT does not cache (store in a file on the local hard disk) passwords for persistent connections to share-level security servers. Therefore, when you logon to Windows NT, you are prompted for a password for each password-protected connection to a share-level server. Windows NT prompts for the passwords to comply with C2 level security. In contrast, because Microsoft Windows for Workgroups caches the passwords into a file, it does not prompt you for passwords when it reconnects persistent network connections.
