Bus Mouse Does Not Work with Video 7 VRAM II

Last reviewed: May 8, 1997
Article ID: Q103195

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows NT operating system, version 3.1
  • Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server, version 3.1

SYMPTOMS

If you use a bus (inport) mouse with a Video 7 VRAM II video adapter, the mouse becomes inoperative.

CAUSE

The Video 7 VRAM II adapter has IRQ 2 enabled. The documentation describes how to disable IRQ 2 incorrectly if you have a video BIOS (basic input/output system) of version 8.57nel or 8.59nel. This cannot be confirmed because Video has gone out of business.

RESOLUTION

Change the jumper on the adapter to the "enable" setting, effectively disabling IRQ 2.
