SUMMARYIBM PC Support/400 (PCS) can be configured to run on Windows NT. The drivers that come with PC Support/400 are EIMPCS.SYS and ECYDDX.SYS. The EIMPCS.SYS driver can be compatible with Windows NT. The ECYDDX.SYS driver is not compatible with Windows NT.
MORE INFORMATIONThe workstation function uses the EIMPCS.SYS driver and functions correctly if you add the driver in the CONFIG.NT file located in the <winntroot>\system32 directory (where <winntroot> is the directory on which Windows NT was installed). It defaults to WINNT. After making this change, the next time you select the MS-DOS Prompt from Program Manager, the driver will be loaded. You can verify this by reviewing the output from the MEM command with either the /c or the /d option. The ECYDDX.SYS driver is not compatible with Windows NT and will not load. This driver is required for the Shared Folders function. Please also verify the SWAP and USEDIX options when connecting to an AS/400 over Ethernet. These parameters are accessible only in the Registry. The Windows NT DLC entries are the following:
Swap : REG_DWORD : 0x0 - Do not bit swap the address Swap : REG_DWORD : 0x1 - Bit swap the address per IBM scheme for Ethernet devices (default) UseDixOverEthernet : REG_DWORD : 0x0 - Use 802.3 frame format (default) UseDixOverEthernet : REG_DWORD : 0x1 - Use DIX frame formatSee the IBM PCS/400 "Installation and Administration Guide" for more information on address swapping or reversing. See the IBM "Local Area Network Technical Reference" for more information on DIX versus 802.3 frame formats.
