The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSError messages stating that the WOWEXEC component of Windows NT (the 16-bit Windows subsystem) could not be started may appear after installing the French version of Windows NT or Windows NT Advanced Server from CD-ROM. This is caused by a bad KB16.COM file.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
