File Copy from CD-ROM to Floppy Creates Extraneous 0-byte FileLast reviewed: May 14, 1997Article ID: Q113131 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf files copied from CD-ROM to floppy disk contain more data than one floppy can hold, all disks except the last disk in the set will contain an extraneous 0-byte file.
CAUSEFile Manager creates an empty file as part of a test to see if the file to be copied will fit on the disk. File Manager is not removing this empty file as it should.
WORKAROUNDAt the moment, the only workaround is to delete the 0-byte file from the floppy manually.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.10. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as soon as it becomes available.
