(default) Message in BOOT.INI Causes STOP Message (0x0000006B)Last reviewed: May 5, 1997Article ID: Q113542 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSThe entry "NT (default)" is erroneously added to the Windows NT flexboot menu. Selecting it results in this STOP message:
STOP: 0x0000006B CAUSEThere is a trailing space at the end of the DEFAULT= line in the [boot loader] section of BOOT.INI.
RESOLUTIONUse an ASCII text editor, such as Notepad, to remove any spaces at the end of the DEFAULT= line. This removes the NT (default) entry in the Windows NT flexboot menu, thus eliminating the STOP message.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
