  • Microsoft Windows NT Server version 3.5

SYMPTOMS

When your computer system running the DLC protocol is operating under stress, a STOP Message may occur.

CAUSE

On a heavily-used system, an attempt to allocate a packet from non-paged pool fails. During the failure handling process, an incorrect deallocation referencing a null pointer is performed.

RESOLUTION

DLC.SYS has been corrected. The memory allocation failure is handled and deallocation is performed correctly.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT Workstation and Windows NT Server version 3.5. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT version 3.5.
