Windows NT Setup Err Msg on Compaq: Stop 0x0000008B

SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows NT on a Compaq computer that has two hard disk drives, and the second drive is unpartitioned, the following error message appears:

   Stop 0x0000008B

   There might be a virus on your system.

   Restart and set the recovery options in the control panel or the
   /CRASHDEBUG system start option. If this message reappears
   contact your systems administrator or your internal support group.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT Workstation and Windows NT Server version 3.5. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT version 3.5.
