The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSYour single processor computer using the Intel Neptune 82434 PCI Cache Memory Controller (PCMC) stops responding (hangs) when you perform a warm reboot running Windows NT version 3.5.
CAUSEThe BIOS incorrectly registers two CPUs.
RESOLUTIONThe Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) file, HALMPS.DLL, has been updated to resolve this problem.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.5. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT version 3.5. For information on obtaining the Service Pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
