The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSYour Hayes Ultra 14400 modem is not detected properly by the modem autodetection feature of Windows NT Remote Access Service (RAS).
CAUSEThe Hayes Ultra 14400 section of the MODEM.INF file does not include a DETECT_STRING or a DETECT_RESPONSE command. These commands are required for RAS to autodetect a modem.
RESOLUTIONDo one of the following to configure your Hayes Ultra 14400 modem for RAS:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.5. This problem was corrected in Windows NT version 3.51. The Ultra 14.4 modem is manufactured by Hayes, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.
