SYMPTOMSWhen you run the Windows NT Backup program (NTBACKUP.EXE) with a Sony 5200 DAT tape device connected to an Adaptec 1540 SCSI controller on a Northwest Micro Pentium computer, the following event appears in the Event Viewer:
Event ID: 7026 Source: Service Control Manager Type: Error Description: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: AHA154xNOTE: The backup operation may work correctly, but the restore operation may fail with the following error message:
No catalogue found CAUSEThis problem occurs the tape device times out. The Northwest Micro Pentium computer is not listed in the Windows NT Hardware Compatibility List (HCL).
RESOLUTIONTo correct this problem, you must modify the Registry. WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows NT to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk.
